Brendan Canning is the senior vice president of business development at Silver Chalice Ventures (SCV), a sports media company for the digital generation. SCV focuses on the creation and operation of video-driven sports properties in partnership with rights holders and other dominant players, with key properties including 120 Sports, Campus Insiders, and the ACC Digital Network.
Backed by extensive experience in digital media and strategic partnerships, Canning’s expertise lies in the development and implementation of strategies to monetize media networks throughout the multichannel and digital ecosystem. He joined SCV in 2012, after a 12 year tenure as the senior director of affiliate sales and marketing at Disney and ESPN Media Networks, where he negotiated affiliation agreements for the distribution of ESPN, ABC, and Disney networks with cable operators, DBS providers, and emerging digital properties. Canning brings his vast knowledge of distribution to SCV, in addition to strategic guidance on content acquisition, primarily with respect to live events.
Canning also serves on the advisory board of BWG Strategy, an invite-only network for senior executives across technology, media, and telecom. He cut his teeth in the media industry as both a journalist and public relations executive, working at various organizations for 10 years. Canning also serves on the Board of Directors of two organizations near and dear to his heart: Notre Dame High School of West Haven and the Arc of Meriden-Wallingford.
He now resides in Connecticut with his wife and three children.
